ILLUSTRATOR & PRINT DESIGNER

MATERNITY COVER - (WITH A VIEW TO A FULL TIME POSITION)

Paper & cloth is a well established uk based print and illustration studio, producing artwork for textiles, stationery and interiors. We’re looking for an illustrator /print designer - maternity cover with a view to full time position for the right candidate.

GENERAL OVERVIEW

You will be required to work in a busy and fast paced environment creating inspiring and innovative artwork, coupling strong commercial knowledge with a highly productive output.

You will have excellent illustration, colour and compositional skills and the ability to produce consistently high quality designs to inspire our clients. You will be part of a creative team involved in all stages of the design process, formulating trend directions and artwork. You will be responsible for creating a mix of characters, prints and themes from baby - older, designing prints and graphics, and using a variety of skills to create illustration, print and typography.

This role is based remotely, meeting in the Northampton studio on a Quarterly basis (Maybe more during the onboarding process)

The ideal candidate will have 2yrs + commercial experience preferably in kids and/or stationery graphics.

Strong hand drawn and digital drawing skills essential. A happy disposition, endless imagination and a general passion for print & pattern. Knowledge of current trends and ability to take responsibility for your own projects.

Must be technically brilliant in PS and Illustrator.

Please note that whilst this is a remote role, we are only accepting candidates based in the UK as you will be required to occasionally travel for meetings in our Northampton studio.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The role includes (but is not limited to):

  • You will have excellent illustration, colour and compositional skills and the ability to produce consistently high quality designs to inspire our clients.

  • Researching trends and formulating original, commercial concepts for print and graphics.

  • Formulate, design and finalise illustration / print sets to a commercial level including working print repeats, inline with the studio expectations and inline with the team output.

  • You will need to be able Pencil draw, print & character concepts/layouts to a high commercial standard for clients to approve.

  • You will contribute to the research and trend development in the studio and coherently present your ideas to the Creative Director and team.

NECESSARY SKILLS

  • A high standard of drawing ability from sketch to final artwork

  • High level of commercial understanding of photoshop & illustrator including working repeats

  • A strong eye for colour, typography and layout

  • Passion and ability to deliver different styles of graphics to ensure originality, responsive to trends & client requirements

  • High attention to detail

  • Great organisational skills

  • A creative thinker, confident in creative problem-solving and proposing new ideas

DESIRABLE SKILLS

  • The following skills may be advantageous (but not essential) to your application).

  • Instagram post creation / management

  • Experience in Graphic design and In Design - Brochure and project proposals

  • Experience using project management tools such as Monday
